First Time Ford Buyer
Buying your car, truck or SUV
So you're ready. You've done all of your research, and have decided on the vehicle you want and the options you want with it. You've decided how you're going to pay for it. Now it's time to go out and get it.
Though it's tempting to rush these last few stages so you can get your new car or truck out onto the road, it's more important than ever to take things slowly and make sure you're getting exactly what you want.
Though you'll be anxious to drive away in your new car, it's important that you go over all the details carefully.
Buying your vehicle
By now, you've probably shopped around, picked a dealer, and have worked with a sales consultant to determine your needs and the appropriate vehicle for you. When you decide to buy, there are three ways a dealer can obtain the vehicle you need.
Though buying a new car or truck off the lot is the fastest way, if a dealer doesn't have the vehicle you want, they can usually get one quickly through a dealer trade. If that's not possible, the dealer may be able to order from the factory.
Once you've agreed on a vehicle, it's time for you and the dealer to agree on a price and review the necessary paperwork including:
- Credit application
- Bill of sale: contains all pertinent details about the vehicle. Read it closely.
- Financing/leasing agreement: details your downpayment, monthly payments, and other important information.
- Insurance and registration: legal documents that you must keep copies of in the car.

Taking Delivery
You've done all your homework, you've chosen wisely and you've found a way to pay for it all. It's time to pick up your new car and take it home.
You can't just expect to grab the keys and go, though. Your sales consultant will spend some time with you explaining all of the car's features, and may even take you on a drive to show some of them to you. He or she should also explain the vehicle's maintenance schedule, show you where and how to bring it in for service, and finally, have you sign an acceptance.
And now, enjoy!
