Maximize Your Vehicle Value
Consider These
Deciding when to give in and trade up from a well loved car is hard to do. You may still be enjoying your vehicle and not yet ready to replace it. The reasons for moving on at exactly the right moment are endless but the biggest reason is Value.
Considering the value of your own vehicle from someone else's point of view is hard to do, at least fairly. There are four major points a buyer is going to consider before they offer you an amount for your automobile.
Mechanical Condition
Having routine maintenance done on your vehicle will keep it running great, regular care and replacement of wearable parts (e.g. things like brakes, tires, and air filters) will make all the difference to a prospective buyer, as it physically shows that you have cared for your car during ownership.
Cosmetic Appearance
A clean, well washed and vacuumed car makes a much better all important first impression. A dirty, unkempt car is not going to help with the resale value of your vehicle. Spend the money on a great detailing job with polishing, cleaning, waxing, etc. Your investment will be fully turned around when your vehicle's value goes up.
Mileage
This is pretty much the only part of selling your automobile that you can do nothing about, with the exception of selling sooner. An average of 20,000 kms per year is good mileage, less than that and the automobile's value rises.
Supply and Demand
Consider the year, make, and model of your vehicle. How many of the same type are for sale at the moment also consider how coveted your vehicle is, it seems to be makes a large difference upon the value. Remember to consider mechanical condition, cosmetic appearance, and mileage when comparing your automobile to the others around your area.
The last thing that you, as a seller, need to consider when putting your vehicle on the market is the remaining balance on your loan and/or any amount owing from a lease contract. You will want to trade-in or sell your vehicle when its value is more than the amount you owe. As a seller you need to look at your vehicle objectively and without bias to honestly be able to place a fair market value upon a much loved member of the family.
